Laboratories

At Sapphire, the meaning of the phrase "learning by doing" is taken very seriously. We, therefore, have a laboratory for each and every type of activity that requires it-notable among them at present being the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Information Technology, Language Lab & Audio-Visual Labs. Even the teachers are more inclined to teach the students in the ambiance of a laboratory.

The language lab is a hi-tech, state of the art facility with separate audio aids for each student. Every student’s progress in his/her choice of foreign language (after PP5 onwards) is carefully monitored and encouraged so that the child acquires proficiency.

Library

The SIS library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today’s information and knowledge-based society. An active school library programme makes a significant difference in student learning outcome. The librarian is a crucial factor in providing an effective programme for the students. It is said that the real purpose of books is to train the mind into doing its own thinking in a world that is in the grip of a digital revolution. So the schools have the ultimate responsibility for sustaining and elevating the interest and love of students for books and reading.

SIS Library facilities certainly contribute towards raising the standard and quality of education. The library of a school is considered as part and parcel of the academic set up. It is created and maintained to serve and support the educational activities of the school. It can play a very important role and help the school in achieving the value and importance of the informal system of education, and then, library method of self- education is sure to get its due place.

The school library provides information, inculcates ideas, and develops knowledge that is so essential to function successfully in today’s information and knowledge-based society. The students are also encouraged to do the book-review and along with the librarian, the teachers are given classes to guide the students in selecting the books.

It is fundamental to the school library to equip students with lifelong learning skills and develop in the creative thinking and imagination, and enabling them to live as ideal responsible citizens. Thus the school library must be made the hub of all the activities planned and executed in school. It can be used by students to prepare for their next class period, home examination, general education, information, competition, and inspiration.

In this scenario’s it is our bounden duty to instill in children right from their formative years not only a love for reading but also the skills involved in accessing information from different sources. That is why today we are talking about Library and Information Management as an integrated genre.

Another very important role school libraries have to play lies in the realm of creativity, children should take to reading just for the pleasure it holds. Once they are hooked to books, they will never in their life feel lonely because they will always have the great minds and hearts of authors, biographers, novelists, simple storytellers, and dramatics and poets as their companions. Infirmary

The school campus has its own experienced doctor and qualified nurses with separate modern and well-equipped infirmaries for girls and boys. The school has a tie-up with all leading hospitals in the city for an emergency. High standards of hygiene are maintained in the campus and all care is taken of our children through regular health checkups.

Sports Facility

Transport

The school has a fleet of several air-conditioned buses with barred windows for the safe conveyance of its day scholars to and from Ranchi city. The routes are so designed as to cover all parts of the city in the shortest possible traveling distance from the school. The drivers and conductors of the buses are specially trained fully sensitized to the special conditions in the transportation of children. That notwithstanding, each bus also has a nanny and school teachers traveling in it for added care and supervision of the children.
